The State Government recently announced a $10.7 million expansion of the Bendigo Tramways depot and workshop. Urban Enterprise congratulates Bendigo Heritage Attractions and the City of Greater Bendigo on this significant funding announcement.
The expansion of the Bendigo Tramways workshop was identified as the priority project for the Bendigo Tramways in the Bendigo Heritage Attractions Revitalisation Study, completed by Urban Enterprise on behalf of Bendigo Heritage Attractions and the City of Greater Bendigo in 2017.
The study identified a number of opportunities to improve operations and the visitor experience across all BHA run heritage attractions (the Bendigo Tramways, Central Deborah Gold Mine and Joss House Temple).
BHA recently also installed a pop-up cafe tram painted in union jack colours in Rosalind Park, to coincide with the Tudors exhibition at the Bendigo Art Gallery, delivering on another key opportunity identified by Urban Enterprise in the Revitalisation Study.
Construction of the expanded Tramways workshop is expected to commence in 2020.
