UDIA Urban Growth Summit 2017

Matt Ainsaar participated in a Panel Presentation at the UDIA Growth Summit on 11th August 2017 at the Glasshouse Theatre on the topic of “Get a hurry on – growth area housing production”. Bettina Sheeran, Special Counsel at Maddocks and Luke Shannon, General Manager Planning and Development at Melton City Council were the other panelists with the session moderated by Jason Shaw, Regional Manager, Victoria at Stockland.

Matt spoke about the chronic under supply of housing in Melbourne’s greenfield growth areas and the impact of approval delays on the supply of housing and economic output in Victoria. This was the subject of a 2015 report by Urban Enterprise on behalf of Stockland which led to the Victorian Government allocating $43 million in the budget to speed up the approval processes in the greenfield growth areas.
