Gippsland Skies Offshore Wind Socioeconomic Benefit Assessment
Client: Private Client
Urban Enterprise was engaged to prepare a socioeconomic benefit assessment for Gippsland Skies; a proposed 2.5 GW offshore wind (OSW) farm off the coast of southern Gippsland.
Key components of the assessment included:
An outline of the supply-chain needs during the feasibility, construction, operational and decommissioning phases of the project’s lifecycle.
An assessment of the federal, state and regional policy context to determine the extent to which the proposal aligns and satisfies key objectives.
Establishment of a regional impact area to profile the baseline socioeconomic conditions and capabilities in the region. An assessment of the capacity of the regional supply-chain to integrate, and benefit from the project.
Preparation of a socio-economic benefit framework to identify and describe the suite of socioeconomic benefits that could be delivered by the proposal, and the indicative impact areas.
A quantification of economic impacts using the input-output method of analysis based on research and international offshore wind project examples.
